A Wonderful Experience at WAGS!
Last week, I had the absolute pleasure of presenting "Family Stories That Inspire" at the very first conference of the Williamsburg Area Genealogical Society (WAGS). It was an incredible experience, and I want to take this time to express my gratitude to everyone who joined me.
Here are some highlights from that fantastic day:
They nailed it! The setting was absolutely beautiful! As the inaugural event for WAGS, the team did an amazing job putting everything together.
Warm and inviting, it provided the perfect backdrop for our discussions.
Presentation Highlights:
Family history is not just dates and names; it's about the stories that connect us to our past and to each other.
My presentation focused on how to take those often boring family facts, and turn them into engaging stories for all to cherish.
We explored methods for making history come alive, shaping ordinary reports and descriptions into extraordinary accounts.
We shared writing techniques that will engage the emotions and senses of your audience. Good stories stir emotions ~ be it joy, laughter or even sorrow, and ensures that family narratives are not just recitations of facts, but vibrant tales that capture the essence of what makes your family the unique entity it is.
Supportive Atmosphere: Creating Connections through Shared Experiences:
There was an immediate connection between the participants and myself, which made sharing our experiences incredibly rewarding. The enthusiasm and support I received during, and even after the session, added to the energy that fueled our bonds!
The session seemed to fly by; some participants lingered afterwards,
still sharing stories, tips and challenges they've faced.
Let's Keep the Conversation Going!
It doesn't have to end here. There is a lot of information that we can share as we continue our journeys in family history, research and storytelling. I would love to stay in touch with all who attended my presentation. I also look forward to connecting with those of you who were unable to attend.
